East Union rolls past Kimball 64-12 behind Fay, Camara

MANTECA – East Union wasted no time setting the tone in its 2025 season opener Friday night, jumping out to a 22-0 first-quarter lead and rolling to a 64-12 victory at Kimball behind a monster night from senior Jackson Fay and a balanced attack that scored in all three phases.

Fay finished with five total touchdowns, striking from everywhere on the field. He rushed for two scores (8 and 38 yards), caught two touchdown passes (18 and 30 yards) and broke loose for a 65-yard punt return in the fourth quarter. He also piled up 192 all-purpose yards.

Senior running back Brayden Camara anchored the ground game with 154 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries, while quarterback Kirk Simoni passed for 124 yards and two touchdowns, including a 40-yard strike to JP Abrew on East Union’s first possession. Junior Peyton Heath added a 30-yard scoring toss to Fay in the third quarter.

Kimball (0-1) broke through in the second quarter on a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Richard Sandoval, then added a 55-yard touchdown pass from Apollo Flores to briefly cut the margin to 29-12. But the Jaguars couldn’t slow the Lancers’ tempo the rest of the way.

Sophomore Gunnar Fay sparked the East Union defense with a 27-yard interception return, and the front line recorded five sacks, led by seniors Gabriel Lopez and Erick Cortez with two apiece. Senior kicker Anthony Zavala stayed perfect on special teams, drilling all eight PATs.

East Union (1-0) outgained Kimball 476-199 in total yardage and scored nine touchdowns overall, leaving little doubt in a game that quickly turned into a rout. East Union of Manteca will travel to Freedom High in Oakley, CA this Friday (Aug. 29th). While Kimball of Tracy will take their bye week and get ready for their next matchup versus West of Tracy @ Home.
